Curator’s Note

Twitter chose the New York Stock Exchange over the NASDAQ — where Facebook had listed the previous year — and priced its shares at $26, above the expected range. The stock rose 73% on its first day of trading. The exterior of the Exchange was decorated with a large Twitter bird banner and the first tweet, attributed to co-founder Jack Dorsey: 'just setting up my twttr.' The photograph was taken from across Broad Street at 9:47 a.m.
