Curator’s Note

The diorama reproduces a section of Amazon's BHM1 fulfillment center in Bessemer, Alabama at 1:50 scale, based on facility plans submitted during a 2021 National Labor Relations Board proceeding. 847 hand-painted figures in yellow safety vests occupy the floor. Their positions and postures were derived from time-motion studies conducted by Amazon's internal Operations Engineering team, documents obtained through an NLRB discovery filing. A second diorama, depicting the parking lot during the same period, is in the collection's study storage.
